Oriental dance and feminine consciousness
The history of belly dance, in Arabian Raqs Sharki, is the history of womanhood. And this is why you can find your femininity in bellydance. When I teach oriental dance it's not just about dancing - the most important thing is the discovery of your own womanhood, of the feminine consciousness. As a composer and dancer I've lost my heart to oriental music. So I'm thoroughly inspired and fascinated by Middle Eastern culture. To be able to dance really well you must understand the inner construction of the music. That's why I also teach music and especially rhythm. My lessons usually consist of a warm-up and of learning and practising the different isolations, coordination exercises, step sequences, combinations, choreographies, rhythms and cymbal playing as well as working with veils and sticks. Very important is the correct posting in order to avoid back aches or improve them if you already them. As important as technique is - we want to have fun! Bellydancing is a training for body mind and soul. I started oriental dance about ten years ago. I studied with worldclass teachers like Mahmoud Reda, Beata and Horacio Cifuentes (Berlin), Havva (Ulm), Sahra Saeeda (USA), Leyla Nahrawess und Scheherezade (Holland) I teach in Basel, Zurich, Sissach and various other places. ![]() |
